Happy Easter to all our Grade 2 Families,

What a busy week we have ahead of us! On Thursday we celebrate, St. Bede Reads! The children are invited to dress as their favourite story book character. We start the day in the gym for our kick off with greetings from the committee and Trustee Marge Belcourt. Our keynote presentation follows with author Simon Rose. After a recess break the children will attend classroom sessions based on teacher's favourite authors.
Families are invited to our St. Bede Reads and Family Barbeque from 5:30 - 7:30. Hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks will be served. Families can view the class displays in the gym, participate in literacy games on Smartboards, visit the computer room and ask your child to demonstrate Lexia, choose books from the used book exchange and have a family photo taken (prebook).

On Friday we will be off to Ralph Klein Park to participate in an outdoor guided walk, a pond study involving dipping for living things, and a third activity of water colours or photography. This field trip has been paid for by our BP A+ for Energy Grant. We presently have 3 volunteers and I invite anyone who finds the time to join us for a wonderful day as we look for the seasonal changes that have taken place since we were last there in January.

We still have 2 field trips to come - The Zoo on June 6th and a half day program at Ralph Klein Park on June 11th. Please contact myself or Kelly Leong if you can volunteer.

Our Flat visitors from Ontario need to return to their original classroom in the near future. With this in mind I am asking that all Flats and journals be completed and returned by Thursday as they are going on display for St. Bede Reads and then I will mail them off. We should soon have our Flats back at St. Bede as well.

Our solar module has been installed and is now operational. We will be planting our seeds and beginning our experiment in the effects of solar lighting.  Our main goal is for the students to see working solar power to make real the effects of the sun as an alternative energy source.

Thanks for all your support - please contact me with any questions or concerns.
