In Social Studies we are exploring life in Iqaluit and comparing it to our life in Calgary. The children have been amazed by the lack of sun in the winter and the amount of day light in the summer. The Northern Lights intrigue everyone. We just finished a book called Northern Lights The Soccer Trails by Michael Arvaarluk. It is a story about how the Inuit people believe that the Northern Lights represent the people who have passed away playing soccer with a walrus head in the sky. We look forward to learning more about the people of the North.
